.KEY MESSAGES...

* Gusty north winds will persist through the weekend along the
Colorado River Valley, mainly affecting recreation interests on
  Lake Mohave and near Laughlin.

* Temperatures will increase as high pressure builds across the
western U.S., bringing a prolonged period of mild to warm and
  dry weather conditions.

&&

.DISCUSSION...through Monday.

A ridge of high pressure will continue to dominate the weather
pattern over the western United States through at least early next
week. One point of interest in this forecast will be wind. Gusty
northerly winds persist down the Colorado River Valley due to a
favorable north to south surface pressure gradient through the
weekend. The strongest of these winds include gusts in the 30 to
40 mph range between Davis Dam and Needles. Winds will create
waves between 1 and 3 feet on Lake Mohave, and boaters are advised
to use extra caution on the lake.

Another point of interest is temperatures. Temperatures will
continue to climb through midweek as the ridge builds over the
region. Highs will be around 10 degrees above average for this
time of year, which for Las Vegas means highs in the upper 60s
to low 70s. The temperature increase may not be as pronounced in
sheltered valleys including Death Valley due to temperature
inversions and light winds, but they will still be a few degrees
above normal nonetheless. Afterwards, temperatures remain steady
late week and start to decrease slightly over the weekend as the
ridge weakens. Even with the decrease, highs should still be 5 to
10 degrees above average. Precipitation is not expected over the
next 7 days.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Light
winds are expected to follow typical diurnal directional patterns
through this evening, with speeds generally remaining 8 knots or
less. There is some disagreement among the models overnight, with
about 50 percent of the guidance indicating a turn to the northwest,
while the remainder keeps winds more southwesterly. Regardless of
direction, speeds are expected to remain light at less than 8 knots.
VFR conditions will prevail through Wednesday, with only a few high
clouds with bases AOA 20kft AGL at times.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 18Z Forecast Package...The main forecast
concern through the TAF period will continue to be gusty, terrain-
enhanced winds blowing down the Colorado River Valley. Gusts of 30
to 35 knots can be expected near KIFP this afternoon, while winds
near KEED will be a bit lighter. Elsewhere across the region, winds
will remain light, with directions following typical diurnal trends.
VFR conditions will prevail through Wednesday, with only a few high
clouds with bases AOA 20kft AGL at times.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
